Mixing has begun. w/ Cuss Words

And tracking is done. We saved the bass for last as to not interfere with the electric guitars when it gets to mixing. Charles running through the SVT, with the K2 and the SM7 close up worked great.

Many of the first takes were top choices, and vox was just as easy. Most of the lead vox were with the SM7 presence switch ON.

An October release is looking great. I’ll be sure to post some clips soon.

Guitar is complete. This week’s session we might skip ahead and give vox a go. For your immediate viewing/listening pleasure, check out the solo on that guy! (and the tone)

Guitar Session w/ Cuss Words

The Tiny Terror reigns champion on todays guitar session.

With the Reverbrocket pulling out the sweet clean tones.

I managed to put together a semi isolation room for the amps. I propped up some auralex against two speaker grill covers to help cut out reflections and the sound of the room.  The SM7 with the bass roll off on and the Fat Head were close mic picks, with the K2 picking up the room sounds. Raising the K2 higher allowed me to adjust how much ambience I wanted to capture.

Most of the overdriven sounds were courtesy of the Tiny Terror. With the gain turn up to two o’clock, no stomp boxes required. The Carbon Copy and Supa-Trem make regular visits to the chain for our time-based needs, and never disappoint.

All that’s left is one more track and a solo, then we are ready to tackle the bass. The SVT is already warming up on standby.
